APPLICATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

IDENTIFY PROBLEMS OPPORTUNITIES AND OBJECTIVES

The first phase of the systems development, where Web&Systems Development Group identifies your information processing problems, look for opportunities to solve them and define the scope and objectives of your systems requirements.

During this early phase, Web&Systems Development Group will be conducting preliminary interview with the management, summarizing the knowledge obtained, estimating the scope of the project, and documenting the results.

Deliverables:

• Feasibility Report containing a problem definition and summary of the objectives, and several systems model to choose from.

DETERMINE INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS

The second phase is the determination of information requirements where we shall be conducting interviews with the users of the proposed information system. We shall be using data gathering techniques and tools to define your specific information requirements in the form of questionnaires, investigation of hard data, and unobtrusive observation on office environments and decision makers.

Deliverables:

• Detailed steps, or work plan
• Project Specifications defining the real system scope and high-level system requirements or features.

ANALYZE SYSTEMS NEEDS

The third phase involves the analysis of your information systems needs including structured decisions (conditions, condition alternative, actions, and action rules) being undertaken in the processing of information in your organization.

Deliverables:

• Model of Existing System in the form of a Logical Data Flow Diagram.
• Data Dictionary
• Systems Proposal describing the current system, where problems and opportunities are with a general recommendation on how to fix, enhance, or replace current system; explanation of alternative system and justification for chosen alternative.

DESIGN

The fourth phase, using the information gathered from the first 3 phases involves the logical design of your desired information system. It is at this stage where we develop the data entry procedures and screen design, files and databases, control and backup procedures to protect your data and programming specifications.

Deliverables:

• Model of the proposed information system in the form of a logical data flow diagram.
• Model of the proposed information system showing the detailed physical data flow diagram.
• Technical detailed specification of all systems elements (programs, files, network, operating system, screen design, data entry procedures…)

SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT & DOCUMENTATION

The fifth phase, is the actual writing of program codes and preliminary testing of programs. Also, at this phase we shall be working with you to develop an effective documentation of your software, including procedure manuals, online help, and an intranet based frequently asked questions. Documentation is very important to you because it tells you and employees how to use the new software and what to do in cases where software problem occur.

• User’s Guide Manual
• Technical Manual

TESTING

Before any new computer-based information systems can be used, it must be tested. A series of test will be conducted by us to pinpoint problems using sample data from your business or organization. Then, eventually with actual data from your current system.

Deliverables:

• Version 0.0 (Alpha Version of Software for preliminary testing)
• Version 0.1 (Beta Version of Software for actual testing)

IMPLEMENTATION & EVALUATION

This is the last phase, where training of users are conducted. The process include conversion of files from old formats to new ones, building databases, installing equipment, bringing the new information system into production.

Evaluation is included as part of this final phase to pinpoint processes which may be needing improvements.
